05.11.2021 General

Sometimes you really want to diversify your life and introduce new tastes and aromas into it, replacing your usual tea or coffee with something new. An excellent solution in this case would be fruit tea. This fragrant and delicious drink is able to satisfy the most demanding taste, since everyone can create their own recipe.

What is fruit tea

Actually, this drink is called tea more out of habit. It does not contain tea leaves, only a variety of leaves, flowers, berries, fruits, or even branches of fruit trees and shrubs. Very often, fruit teas are confused with regular ones, which contain similar additives - green or black tea with fruits. But they are precisely tea with additives, while fruit tea is more of a herbal tea, which does not contain caffeine, and the taste and smell are provided by the fruits and flowers of trees.

The basis of most fruit teas presented in stores is hibiscus. It gives the drink a beautiful red hue and a rich taste with a slight sourness. By the way, the famous Egyptian hibiscus is a tea made from pure hibiscus. Sudanese rose is rich in organic acids, vitamins C and P, and microelements.

Thanks to it, fruit tea can:

  • have a general strengthening effect. It not only stimulates work immune system, but also improves the general condition of the body;
  • normalize blood pressure. Hot hibiscus tea increases blood pressure, while cold tea does the opposite;
  • cleanse the body. Regular consumption of this tea will gently remove accumulated waste and toxins;
  • lower cholesterol levels;
  • normalize the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract.

Important! Each additive - flowers, berries, leaves or branches - gives the tea unique flavor nuances, as well as additional healing capabilities specific to this particular fruit or berry.

If we exclude the possibility of allergic reactions, then fruit tea does not have any side effects or contraindications. You can drink it at any time of the day; it will be useful for children and pregnant women.

Tea from tree branches

A separate category of fruit teas consists of decoctions of fruit tree branches. This drink will be an excellent replacement for the usual tea in the autumn-winter period, when there is simply no other raw material for fruit tea: it has not been prepared since the summer or it has already run out. Tea made from fruit tree branches is aromatic, beautiful, very tasty and no less healthy than fruit teas.

For brewing, you need young annual branches with buds or leaves. If the branches are old, then only buds are taken from them. The branches are cut up to 15 cm long, but before brewing it is better to cut them finer. Branches of any fruit trees or shrubs are suitable for making tea. Each version of the decoction has individual healing properties, for example:

  • Tea made from currant shoots strengthens blood vessels, improves metabolism, and improves immunity. It has a diuretic effect and is used to treat rheumatism. This tea can be brewed twice - the taste and aroma will only become better;
  • a decoction of cherry branches is very good for the kidneys, it removes sand and relieves pain from cystitis;
  • plum branches give tea soothing properties. It relaxes and relieves stress, and is also good for lung function;
  • tea made from rosehip branches tastes like compote. It has a diuretic and strengthening effect, useful for rheumatism or radiculitis. This tea must be strained before drinking to get rid of small thorns;
  • Raspberry branches, like its berries, are an excellent antiviral agent. During the cold season, tea made from such shoots will strengthen the immune system, relieve coughs, and reduce fever. It is useful to drink this tea in the last weeks of pregnancy - it helps to increase the elasticity of the ligaments and muscles of the birth canal;
  • A decoction of apple branches, especially with young leaves, is very rich in vitamin C. It is useful to drink for colds, sore throats, and vitamin deficiencies. The taste of the tea will depend on the type of apple tree.

Brewing tea from the branches is quite simple: they need to be boiled for 15 minutes and then infused. It's best to leave it overnight. After this, the tea can be strained or heated if desired, but do not bring it to a boil.

Important! To prepare tea, you need to take only healthy tree branches, without damage or traces of disease.

Rules for preparing for brewing

Fruit tea is brewed from both fresh leaves and berries and dried ones, and in dried form they do not lose their benefits at all. Of course, if the drying process took place without violating the technology. Only fully ripened fruits are used as raw materials for tea.

If you need to prepare tea leaves for future use, all its components must first be dried. The fruits are finely chopped and dried. If they contain a lot of vitamin C, then special dryers are used that blow the fruit evenly with an air flow heated to 80-90 degrees. Leaves and flowers can be dried naturally - placing them in a dry, dark, ventilated place.

The dried components can be stored separately, mixing new tea each time, or you can immediately collect several different blends so that they have time to become friends and become saturated with each other’s scents. The second option is more suitable for proven recipes, when the result of brewing the mixture is already familiar and liked. If experiments are just beginning, it is better to have supplies of components on hand to find your favorite way to combine them.
After the brew is ready, it is necessary to carry out several more preparatory procedures, and also ensure that the rules for brewing fruit tea are followed:

  • The teapot must be warmed up; to do this, just pour boiling water over it;
  • Only fresh water is used for tea; after the second boiling, it loses its properties and deteriorates the quality of the drink;
  • You can’t pour boiling water over fruit tea, you need to let the water cool a little - up to 70-80 degrees, otherwise everything essential oils, which give tea its benefits and aroma, will evaporate;
  • leave it for no longer than 5-15 minutes.

Such drinks, as a rule, are brewed only once, since they immediately impart all the taste and smell to the drink. It is better to drink fruit tea with honey, although you can add sugar.

Tea Recipes

There is no single recipe for tea with fruits, since the abundance of components gives rise to many available options for combining them. Everyone can choose tea to their taste by mixing fruits, leaves, flowers in a variety of proportions and combinations. For those who decide to make fruit tea with their own hands for the first time, you can start with proven recipes. Once this drink becomes more familiar, it’s time to experiment on your own.

Currant tea

For preparation you will need young leaves and fruits (in winter they can be replaced with twigs, top buds and jam). 2-3 leaves are crushed, the berries are ground with sugar, then they are mixed and poured with hot water.

Apple cinnamon tea

Dried apples or other dried fruits (for example, dried apricots) are crushed, seasoned with a pinch of cinnamon and poured with hot water. Tea is good with honey, and a little lemon juice will give it a pleasant sourness.

Herbal tea with fruits and basil

Brew 2-3 teaspoons of your favorite herbal tea (mint, thyme, chamomile, fireweed, etc.) with hot water. While it sits, prepare fruits: peach, nectarine, plum. They are washed, separated from the seeds and cut into slices. Place basil leaves and chopped fruit in a glass teapot or jug and then pour hot tea over it. You can drink the prepared tea hot or cold.

Floral-exotic tea

To prepare this tea you will need:

  • rose petals;
  • apples;
  • papaya;
  • orange and tangerine zest;
  • blueberry;
  • coconut.
Petals can be collected from flowers that grow in your own garden. All tea components are pre-dried, and fruits and berries are also cut. The list of ingredients is not canon; berries and fruits can be replaced with those that you like better or are more accessible. The dried tea leaves are stored in a glass jar. The amount of raw materials for one serving of tea can be varied to suit your taste; brew the tea for 10-15 minutes - the longer it sits, the richer the taste and aroma will be. And then you can simply eat the fruit as an addition to tea.

Fruit teas offer complete freedom to find your perfect recipe. You can brew them from almost anything that grows in the garden or vegetable garden, each time getting a new drink.

In winter, fruit tea will remind you of summer, fill the room with a fresh fruity aroma and lift your spirits. In the summer, this drink will quench your thirst and refresh you, give you new strength and charge you with vigor.

Fruit tea recipes.

In winter, hot vitamin teas appear in almost all restaurants and cafes - with berries, fruits, herbs. You can prepare such tasty and healthy drinks at home. The main thing is to stock up on the necessary ingredients and learn a couple of interesting recipes from professional mixologists.

Hot fruit and berry teas are an ideal drink for the cold season. Firstly, they warm up quickly. Secondly, they contain a lot of vitamins and minerals, which are so necessary for us in the absence of fresh seasonal fruits and herbs. Thirdly, they are very tasty and can be prepared in a matter of minutes. Much faster than a smoothie or freshly squeezed juice. And finally, by adding a couple of spoons of rum or cognac to this tea, you will get a tasty and fragrant cocktail for adults.
Fruit and berry teas are prepared in different ways, depending on what is the basis of the drink. If it is water, then just pour boiling water over the ingredients, stir, cover with a lid and leave to brew for 5-7 minutes. If you are preparing tea based on fruit juice, you will have to heat it. The main thing is to do this over low heat and make sure that the juice does not boil, otherwise it may curdle or simply lose its taste and most of the vitamins. If you add a sweetener, simply heat the juice over low heat until the sugar or honey dissolves.
It is best to brew and serve such bright and beautiful tea in a transparent glass teapot. If the ingredients include berries with grains (for example, sea buckthorn) or you add loose leaf tea, then you can use a French press so that the drink gets into the cup pre-strained. Tea with apple, pear or orange can be brewed in a large mug, from which you can drink it. Pieces of fruit or berries will be an additional bonus - they can be eaten with a spoon.

The classic recipe excludes the use of tea leaves, but the beauty and uniqueness of such tea lies in its exclusivity and the possibility of creating unique recipes. For example, in the summer, drinks based on green tea with lemon are wonderfully refreshing, and in the winter, you can prepare a hot, aromatic treat for friends using black tea with the addition of fruit.

The main feature of the drink is the absence of caffeine, of course, if it does not contain tea leaves. That is why berry tea based on aromatic herbs, berries and fruits, in the absence of contraindications, can be drunk without restrictions.

There are an endless number of recipes for fruit treats, but the main components of tea are citrus fruits, apples, blueberries, strawberries, strawberries, and hibiscus. You can drink fruit tea either chilled or hot.

Spice lovers add mint, cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves.

The combination of various components allows you to get not only a tasty, but also a healthy, vitamin-rich drink. Fruit and berry tea:

Recipes for fruit drinks from chefs

Restaurants serve drinks with amazing taste and aroma, but it is a mistake to believe that it is impossible to make them yourself.

Sea buckthorn drink with apples. Ingredients needed: (you can use fresh or frozen berries), fresh apples, honey, water. Apples must be cut into cubes, put in a bowl, add water, and heat for a quarter of an hour over low heat. Then you need to add sea buckthorn, honey and leave for twenty minutes.

Green tea with citruses. To prepare you will need: orange juice, hot green tea, several slices of grapefruit, any fruit syrup, several mint leaves, cardamom, hot water. You will need a copper bowl in which water, tea leaves, mint and cardamom are placed. All components are thoroughly heated over low heat for five minutes, then the mixture is removed from the heat and orange juice, fruit syrup and grapefruit slices are added.

And we’ll add a few recommendations, following which will help you prepare delicious, healthy tea. The cooking container should be warm, heated over a fire, the water should be purified, but it should not be boiled twice. You need to pour the selected fruit blend with hot water, but not boiling water. Otherwise, the essential oils will evaporate, which means the treat will lose its aroma.
