It’s too lazy to run to the store for bread after a hard day at work, especially if the weather is completely bad. In such cases, I remember soda puffs, which are made very quickly and turn out incredibly tasty. They can be cooked in a frying pan or in the oven, but the first option is preferable for me, since I spend no more than 10-15 minutes on it.

Fried donuts with soda are perfect for tea, as well as first courses, if the recipe does not include sugar. The dough turns out airy, soft and instantly “flies away” with sour cream, jam and even condensed milk.

Surely your mothers and grandmothers prepared this version of rich, unleavened or puff pastry products and they are very familiar to you. In case you forgot the recipe, I suggest you familiarize yourself with my favorite ways to make such a dish.

Donuts with water and soda

If you want something homemade and simple, without unnecessary sophistication, then soda donuts with water will be the ideal choice for cooking. For the dough you will need to prepare the following ingredients:

  • purified water - 500 ml;
  • salt - 0.5 tsp;
  • sugar - 2 tsp;
  • sodium bicarbonate - 0.5 tsp;

Donuts made with kefir and soda

Another cooking recipe that allows you to get fluffier and softer cakes. I cook products using water when I don’t have kefir or milk on hand. If these products are available, then it is better to use them. Donuts made with kefir and soda are prepared according to the following recipe:

  • flour - 3 cups;
  • sugar - 4 tbsp. (sweet option);
  • vegetable oil for frying;
  • sodium bicarbonate - 0.5 tsp;
  • egg - 1 pc.;

Fried crumpets with water and soda

Ingredients:

Today there are a huge number of recipes for preparing a wide variety of homemade baked goods and desserts for every taste. They are full of originality, abundance of ingredients and richness of taste and aroma. But sometimes you really want simple homemade crumpets that our grandmothers and mothers fried. They are great with sour cream, honey or just tea or milk. And unsweetened donuts are quite suitable instead of bread for any dishes.

Fried crumpets with water and soda

Ingredients:

  • wheat flour - approximately 480-500 g;
  • filtered water – 550 ml;
  • salt – 15 g;
  • granulated sugar – 25 g;
  • baking soda – 12 g;
  • vegetable oil for frying.

Preparation

Pour salt and half a teaspoon of baking soda into filtered water, stir until the crystals dissolve and add the sifted flour and mix again. The initial consistency of the dough should be like pancakes. Now crush another half teaspoon of soda over the surface of the dough and mix it well. This simple nuance will give the finished crumpets some airiness. Next, add more flour and knead into a soft pliable dough. We make flat cakes out of it, which we roll out with a rolling pin or knead with our hands to a thickness of about ten to fifteen millimeters. We make several cuts along the surface on top.

Fry the crumpets in heated vegetable oil over low heat and serve.

Ingredients:

  • wheat flour – 500-520 g;
  • filtered water – 310 ml;
  • salt – 10 g;
  • granulated sugar – 70 g;
  • – 110 g;
  • dry yeast – 15-20 g;
  • vegetable oil for frying.

Preparation

Dissolve granulated sugar, salt and yeast in water heated to a pleasant warmth and let it stand for fifteen minutes in a warm place. During this time, the yeast will begin its work and the mass will foam.

Then add a glass of sifted flour, mix and add melted butter. Add the rest of the flour in small portions and make a soft dough. Knead it for ten minutes, cover with a towel and place in a warm place.

When the volume of the dough has doubled or tripled, we begin baking the donuts.

To do this, pinch off a small amount of it, form a flat cake and roll it out with a rolling pin or your hands. Fry in a heated frying pan with vegetable oil on both sides over moderate heat. Let the rosy donuts cool slightly and serve.

A dish like crumpets belongs to traditional cuisine. After all, they have been prepared in Rus' since ancient times. Nowadays, this dessert remains one of the most popular, and learning how to prepare it is very simple, even a novice cook can do it!

Pyushki are buns made from yeast dough, fried in oil, most often with a hole in the center. They are often confused with donuts, because the difference is actually not too great. They are round, made with yeast dough, and their filling can be varied.

The name “puffy” itself comes from the Slavic word “puff”, which means “to throw heat,” but the name “donut” comes from the Polish “paczek,” which translates as “round sweet fried pie.” Even the decoding of these 2 names has no contradictions.

Our ancestors prepared this dish hundreds and even thousands of years ago, and even today it is popular in many countries around the world. And even if they are not particularly useful for the figure, if you know when to stop them, they will not do any harm.

Many housewives prepare donuts not only with a sweet filling, but also with greaves, dill, caraway seeds, and even serve them with beer, sprinkled with salt first.
