Boats from puff pastry will serve as a complete meal, including a side dish, meat and vegetables. It will take some time to cook, but these boats should be cooked at least once.
The dish looks interesting and appetizing and can be served to guests. There is no strict recipe; the ingredients can be changed to suit your taste.
Let's prepare the products according to the list.
The first step is to defrost the puff pastry. Peel the potatoes, cut them into cubes, add water and boil. Add salt.
Wash the chicken meat and chop it as finely as possible.
Peel the red onion and cut into quarters of rings. Red onions can be replaced with onions.
Fry the chicken meat in vegetable oil over high heat for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Add onion, salt, cover and simmer over low heat until done.
Crush the boiled potatoes with butter into a puree.
Divide the defrosted dough into plates; mine was wrapped like this. Roll out each plate a little with a rolling pin and divide into two rectangular parts as in the photo. Make cuts in each rectangle on opposite sides.
Place mashed potatoes in the middle of each rectangle.
Place the next layer of fried meat and onions.
Cut the pickled cucumber into thin half rings and place on top of the meat.
Close the boats on both sides. The cuts in the dough will be in the middle of the pie.
Pinch the edges of the product on each side so that it looks like a boat.
Place baking paper on a baking sheet. Place the boats and brush with beaten egg.
Bake at 200 degrees until beautifully golden brown, about 15-20 minutes.
Puff pastry boats are ready.
Bon appetit!
Puff pastry boats are one of those snacks that can be served in an endless number of variations. This dish will fit perfectly into the everyday menu and will easily decorate the holiday table. You can make boats from frozen semi-finished products, then they will be prepared easily and quickly!
One of the most satisfying dish options are puff pastry boats with potatoes and meat. This appetizer will appeal to those who like to eat hearty and tasty food. Boats are a portioned dish that is convenient to take with you on the road or on a picnic. But even at home, baked goods with such filling are eaten with pleasure. You can serve it for breakfast, lunch or dinner, accompanied by a salad of fresh herbs.
It is important not to overdry the boats in the oven, otherwise the puff pastry will become tough and rough. It is better to serve the dish hot. But cooled boats will remain tasty and appetizing for several days.
Cheese lovers will appreciate the aromatic boats with cheese filling. You can use any cheese to prepare this dish. It’s best to make the filling based on a mixture of several types. You can also take a slightly dried product that has been lying in the refrigerator.
To make the dish more flavorful, you can use a variety of spices. Any type of filling goes well with fresh herbs (dill, parsley, cilantro, tarragon), but you can also use dry herbs.
Puff pastry boats with filling can be used as a quick snack or serve as a main course. The most satisfying will be boats filled with meat, for example, chicken. You can chop it yourself for the filling. chicken fillet or meat trimmed from chicken thighs. Chopped minced meat turns out more juicy than that obtained after twisting the meat in a meat grinder.
Note! When preparing the filling, it is very important not to overcook the onions. It should take on a slightly golden tone. Overcooked onions, brought to a brown color, will give the minced meat an unpleasant aftertaste.
The filling for boats with sausage is the easiest to prepare. But it should be noted that for such a dish you should not use dry varieties; boiled sausage or ham will do. To make the filling more juicy, you can add a little grated cheese.
Important! Frying the minced meat before baking is necessary in order to give the meat a more pronounced taste and to avoid the release of juice, which will certainly happen when trying to bake raw minced meat in the oven.
Boats stuffed with cottage cheese and herbs turn out delicious and filling. For the filling, use cottage cheese, unsweetened curd mass or a mixture of these products with any soft cheeses (Suluguni, feta, Adyghe).
Puff pastry recipes are easy even for those housewives who do not have much experience working with the oven. This dough is easy to work with and compatible with almost any filling. And the result looks so appetizing that it will decorate both an everyday table and a dinner party.
Snack pies-boats made of puff pastry stuffed with meat and potatoes fit perfectly into the dinner menu. Judge for yourself: tasty, satisfying, prepared quickly, without requiring any special skills. In addition to meat products - minced meat or pieces of pork, finely chopped sausage, frankfurters, and chicken fillet are added to the filling. Variants with fish are known; for example, a noble dish can be prepared with salmon.
If you add pickles and cheese to the potatoes and meat, the filling will become richer. Sometimes I add mushrooms, creating a kind of mini-pizza in boats. By the way, if you cover the pie with a fried egg on top, then you will have a completely different dish on your table, reminiscent of khachapuri.
Puff pastry is made without yeast or with yeast - it doesn’t matter. You don’t have to cook it yourself; nowadays it’s much faster to buy a couple of packages and throw it in the refrigerator, freeing yourself from fussing with flour.
I offer an almost universal recipe. Using the technology for preparing pies stuffed with potatoes and meat, you can add or change ingredients. Today I'm making chicken boats with potatoes.
You will need:
Let's start with the filling. If you're lucky and there's only a little bit left from dinner mashed potatoes, then rejoice and use it. Otherwise, quickly peel and boil the potatoes. Grind into a puree, add a piece of butter (30 grams, not all specified in the recipe).
At the same time, take care of the meat. I don't really like using minced meat. I prefer to chop meat products into small pieces.
Don’t be too fussy with the onions – cut them into half rings.
Fry the meat pieces in a frying pan, add onion rings to them and fry together, not forgetting to pepper and salt the filling.
First, cover with a lid, after 10 minutes, remove the lid and wait for the juice to evaporate. Cool the workpiece slightly.
Cut the cucumbers into strips into a separate bowl.
Lay out the layers of dough, divide into equal rectangles.
Roll out and make two parallel cuts, as in the photo.
Place the potatoes in the middle, between the slits, and smooth them out.
Place the meat filling on top, in smaller quantities than the puree.
Top with cucumber straws.
Cover the filling with half of the layer, stretching the cut on this side - the filling will slightly open.
Pull the other half over the pie, stretching the dough again so that the filling remains visible.
Pinch the corners of the pie, it will look like a boat.
Whisk the egg and brush the top of the dough and filling.
Rub the shavings over the cheese and decorate the top of the boat.
All that remains is to grease the baking sheet, arrange the pieces in a row and send them to bake. The time spent in the oven is 15-20 minutes depending on the size of the products. Temperature – 200 o C.

Curly boats made of puff pastry
I love these delicious mushroom puff pastries. original way rolling - giving the baked goods a boat shape. To make boat pies, you can use any puff pastry; I made it from store-bought ones. For dough boats, different juicy or fatty filling, which will not dry out during baking.
These pies are useful and enjoyable to bake with children, the process of forming boats develops the child’s spatial thinking, contact with soft and pliable dough, the fine work of children’s hands improves speech, and baking itself develops the child’s creativity and imagination. In addition, joint constructive and creative work improves family relationships. So, let's make stuffed boats!
for 20-22 pies
Ready puff pastry (yeast or yeast-free) – 500 g;
Mushrooms (champignons, oyster mushrooms) – 300 g;
Onions – 1-2 heads;
Parsley or other greens - a bunch;
Vegetable oil for frying;
Spices optional: basil, pepper;
Salt;
Sour cream – 2 tablespoons;
Starch or flour – 1 tablespoon + 1/4 cup cool water;
Hard cheese – 50-80 g.
Egg for brushing the tops of puff pastries
Cut the mushrooms into small pieces. Onion - thin half rings. Fry the onion in hot oil for 2 minutes, then add the mushrooms. Fry for 7-10 minutes until done. Sprinkle mushrooms with spices and salt to taste. Add herbs, sour cream and starch diluted in water. Mix well. Wait for the starch to brew (the mushroom mixture thickens), this will take 1-2 minutes.
Turn off the heat and cool.
Let's prepare the mushroom filling!
Separately, grate the cheese on a coarse grater.
This is what the mushroom filling in the finished puff pastries will look like!
Thaw the dough according to the instructions on the package (usually this takes about 20 minutes). Cut the dough sheets into squares. (I had 2 layers in the package, each cut into 9 squares).
Roll out each square to a size of 15x15 (match the size of the large cup or bowl you will be cutting with). Use a large cup to cut out a circle. Then take a smaller cup and cut out a circle inside the larger one, but be sure to leave untouched (uncut) sections of 1 cm each at the bottom and top (the junction of the inner circle with the rim, otherwise the rim will fall off).
First we cut out a large circle, then a small one inside it, leaving small joints, from which small curls are then formed
We put the left side of the rim to the right, and we put the right side under the left. Or vice versa, if you are right-handed)))
Then perform this trick: take the headbands on the right and left and thread them into each other.
This is the sign of infinity that intertwines the headbands threaded into each other.
The crossed rims of dough form borders on the inner circle of dough. This is how you get a dough boat.
Place intertwined rims on the edges of the inner circle
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. If there is none, grease the baking sheet with oil or dust it with flour. Place empty blanks - boats on a baking sheet. You can transfer already filled pies to a baking sheet if you are confident in manual dexterity.
Spread the filling in a heap
Place 2 teaspoons of filling between the sides of each pie. Add some cheese on top.
Boats on a baking sheet
Brush the dough with a cloth or brush dipped in a mixture of beaten egg and 1 tablespoon of cool water.
Bake the boats with filling at a temperature of 220 degrees C until the dough is browned.
Baking tray with boat-shaped pies
The pies are ready!
The boats will soon set sail with sweet hot tea!
Pies - boats are easy to prepare, you just need to be careful not to cut off excess - leave jumpers connecting the outer ring of dough and the inner circle.
It was convenient for me to mark the inner circle with a cup with a handle; if I forgot that it was impossible to cut completely, then the handle of the mug acted as a natural obstacle (at least on one side), the process of maintaining the connecting strip on the opposite side had to be controlled by an effort of will;))
The fact that the rim of the boats is very flat, and the filling is convex (laid out in a slide), is not scary. In the oven, the baked goods will grow and the pies will have good sides of sufficient height.
Curls - boats with mushrooms and cheese are ready!
You need to sprinkle the cutting table with flour, powder your rolling pin and your hands in the same way, then the puff pastry will not stick when rolled out.
I had a large bowl with a diameter of about 15 cm and a smaller tea cup. The rim (ring) of the inner circle of dough was about 2.5-3 cm wide.
You can collect the scraps of dough into a pile, roll it out again and cut out circles. If the rolled out dough does not turn out to be a very convenient geometric shape, then you can make any other pies from it - croissants - recipe, envelopes, triangles or pyramids. For example, I baked pyramids with currants (I had frozen ones from the summer). You can add a little sugar to the filling if you don’t like the sourish-fresh taste.
Raise the edges of the dough triangle up and connect along the edges. We put the filling inside (I used currants)
Pyramids with berries are ready for baking
Ready-made puff pyramids with berries - very juicy and tasty!
For the curd filling, ready-made curd mass + 1 egg or a mixture of cottage cheese, sugar and sour cream + 1 egg, to which you can also add butter and raisins (dried apricots, berries or prunes), is suitable. The fattier the cottage cheese, the tastier the filling of these puff pastries will be.
To fill these puff cheesecakes - boats for 500 g of puff pastry, you will need about 1.5 packs of curd mass (300 g).
The sides will rise in the oven and the filling won't spread, don't worry!
Boats with curd filling before placing in the oven
Cheesecakes - boats are ready!
Eat me!
Baking in the shape of a boat: pies and open khachapuri (those where an egg is then broken on top of the suluguni) are molded differently - the edges of the circle or oval, in the center of which the filling lies, are pinched at the edges. And no crossed dough rims.)))
The boat pies are small and filling. When you finish the last bite, you don’t feel like you’ve eaten too much, you just have a pleasant feeling inside. Because there is not much dough and enough filling. The boats are very tasty, crispy, with a juicy and plentiful mushroom or curd filling! I regret that I didn’t bake enough of these puff pastries; I should have made a second batch right away from a new package of dough.
