"Poems about To the beautiful lady" - lyrical cycle by A.A. Blok. The cycle formed the core of the first volume of Blok’s collected poems and became the most important event in the spiritual biography of the poet, as well as in the history of Russian poetry of the early 20th century. Blok wanted his entire work to be considered as a single novel in verse. He divided his poetry into three volumes, each of which marked a certain stage of his life and creative path. The three volumes together formed a complete “trilogy”, “dedicated to one circle of feelings and thoughts.” In this picture of the whole, the first volume embodied Blok’s experience of the mystical ideal, and the central place in it was given to the most extensive cycle in terms of volume - “Poems about a Beautiful Lady.” In the last lifetime edition of Blok's lyrics in 1922, the cycle includes 164 poems written between the spring of 1901 and the autumn of 1902. However, this composition, perceived today as a canon, did not take shape immediately. The history of its formation reflects the movement in time of Blok’s cherished poetic ideas, who in one of his letters to A. Bely admitted: “...The whole history of my internal development was “prophesied” in “Poems about a Beautiful Lady.”

The name of the future cycle first appeared in print in 1903 in connection with the publication of ten lyrical poems by Blok in the Moscow almanac “Northern Colors” and was proposed by the compiler and editor of the almanac V.Ya. Bryusov. Subsequently, this name was traditionally used by Blok to designate his early mystical lyrics, published in different years in different thematic and compositional compositions. So, at the end of October 1904, the Moscow publishing house “Grif” published the poet’s first separate book with the same title, “Poems about a Beautiful Lady.” The later final text of the cycle included twice as many poems, and its composition also changed significantly.

The first book of poetry, written in esoteric language, was addressed to the few “initiates.” The need for subsequent reprints was caused, among other things, by Blok’s desire to “clarify” the content of “Poems about a Beautiful Lady.” Blok began preparing the second edition of this corpus of poems at the suggestion of the Musaget publishing house in the fall of 1910. This edition, intended for a collection of poems, was prefaced by Blok with a preface in which he called all the lyrics a “trilogy.” The first volume of the collection, published in May 1911, included “Poems about a Beautiful Lady” in a new quality. The 300 poems were divided into seven parts, labeled years from 1891 to 1904. A.A. Blok used here the chronological principle of constructing the volume. In 1916, the Musaget publishing house published a new edition of Blok’s works in four books. This caused a reworking of the composition of “Poems about a Beautiful Lady”: the exclusion of 89 poems and the introduction of another 27 that were not included in the previous edition. For the first time in this edition, the poems of the first volume are divided into three lyrical cycles: “ Ante Lucem "(1898-1900), "Poems about a Beautiful Lady" (1901-1902) and "Crossroads" (1902-1904). In the fifth edition of the Collected Works (Pg., 1922), Blok wanted to write a prose commentary on “Poems about the Beautiful Lady,” but the plan was not realized. It was in this edition that the cycle included 164 poems and was divided into six sections, marked by the place and time of writing the poems. Now we can say that the first edition of “Poems about a Beautiful Lady” (book 1904) was the basis not so much for the subsequent cycle of the same name, but for the last section of the first volume - the “Crossroads” cycle.

In the cycle “Poems about a Beautiful Lady,” a new discovery took place for all literature of the 1900s. themes of the mystical feminine principle of the world. The pedigree of the image of the Beautiful Lady is quite wide. Blok is close to the characteristic motif of medieval culture - knightly worship of the Lady; traditions of mystical lyric poetry of the Renaissance, especially Dante and Petrarch, in whose work the mastery of existence occurs through a feeling of love, and the female image (Beatrice, Laura) is identified with the image of the world in its ideal embodiment, in the reconciliation of all contradictions. In Russian poetry A.A. Blok sees his predecessors in Zhukovsky and especially in Fet, who achieved extraordinary sophistication in depicting human feelings and their correlation with the phenomena of natural life. Blok finds motifs close to his own in the poem by Ya.P. Polonsky's "Tsar-Maiden" with its ancient Russian and fairy-tale flavor. But the main source of influence at the time of writing the poems of the future cycle was the poetry of V.S. Solovyov, whom he met at the turn of the century and who “took possession of his entire being.” From Solovyov, Blok adopted the cult of Eternal Femininity - the Soul of the World, captivated by world vulgarity and awaiting its liberation. At this time, the young Blok is gripped by anxiety and anticipation of world catastrophes. The advent of a new century is perceived by him as the beginning of a universal renewal and rebirth of man. In 1901-1902 the poet has visions. She appears to him, and in her features he recognizes the World Soul, the image of which is intricately intertwined in his mind with the features of a real woman, his future bride - L.D. Mendeleeva (in 1901-1902 they developed love relationship). The veneration of the unearthly Beautiful Lady and falling in love with a specific woman merged into a single feeling and gave rise to a creative tension of unprecedented power.

“Poems about a Beautiful Lady” is a single text, thought out in every detail and organized according to the laws of a large musical form. The cycle is based on a simple motive: the lyrical hero - a “knight” (monk, youth, poet) strives for her. Behind this desire lies the most diverse content: the search for a path in life and an integral worldview, impulses towards the ideal and beauty, comprehension of God. These mystical experiences that the poet was seized by required the creation of a special esoteric language. The cycle has developed a comprehensive system of symbols. In objects and phenomena of empirical reality, Blok foresaw hints of another, perfect transcendental world. The true content of the symbols correlates with the beyond, but Blok seeks and finds the basis for them in the surrounding life. Following Solovyov, Blok believed that only in an ecstatic state can one penetrate into the secrets of existence. In the philosophical lyrics of the cycle, designed almost like diary “records” of the internal states of the lyrical hero, his main “action” becomes in-depth contemplation, a premonition of the messenger of “other worlds”.

Analysis of the cycle of poems - About a beautiful lady

Poems about the “Beautiful Lady” are the first step of Alexander Alexandrovich Blok in his many years of creative journey from romantic symbolism to critical realism. This is his first and most brilliant achievement, in my opinion. These works are amazingly beautiful, warm and tenderly written...

Poems about the "Beautiful Lady" were written at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, complex, Time of Troubles; time of revaluation of values, revision life principles; a time of repression and revolution, protest, humiliation and ignorance of man as an individual. Everyone suffered, from peasant to nobleman. Thus, people, exhausted by a ruthless reality, sought an outlet, peace in the mystical.

The philosophy of Solovyov, especially the thesis, had a huge influence on the formation of the worldviews of many of Blok’s contemporaries, especially the thesis: “the very love of the world is open through love for a woman... in love is our salvation...”, in the same way, our Poet, creating his small works, tried to hide from the gray, rough reality, sought salvation in the heavenly, perhaps even utopian, world of his endless love for the “Beautiful Lady”, in her beauty, “Eternal Femininity”. The poet was completely dissolved in a pool of beautiful dreams, worship of this heavenly goddess, he clearly saw every feature of her face, knew everything about the creature created by his thoughts, he was a slave to his dreams:

I am defeated by your passions,

Weak under the yoke.

Sometimes - a servant; sometimes - dear;

And forever - a slave.

For some reason I had a presentiment of the arrival of this amazing maiden, I was afraid that on the way to reality the gentle creature would lose part of its pristine beauty:

How clear is the horizon! And radiance is close.

But I’m scared: You will change your appearance.

In fear of the terrible, burning and corrosive elemental world that corrodes everything in its path, Alexander Alexandrovich himself begins to look for his “Beautiful Lady”: a soft, bewitching voice in the bustling shops, quiet breathing in the noise of the never-ending street, a modest look in the crowd of passers-by... He is looking for the soulless , his wordless creation, finds an even more beautiful, real, living woman, independent and free, like the wind, light and transparent... His soul was filled with joy, hope for happiness, he wanted to take his beloved by the hand and fly to a free future. The power of beauty of Lydia Dmitrievna Mendeleeva (She was truly a “Beautiful Lady”: graceful, well-mannered. She illuminated everyone not only with the light of the goodness of her heart, but also outwardly was like a golden ray of sun in the gray dust of the present: a light brown braid neatly descended to the waist, huge sapphire eyes often awakened sincere smiles on tired faces ordinary people.) was so large and bright that he was not afraid to get hurt on the sharp thorns of all-consuming time, on the evil “rabbit-like glances of drunkards”, the mockery of the “twelve” on that long and bottomless path to the star of supreme contentment shining somewhere in the distance:

And full of treasured trembling

Long-awaited years

We'll rush off-road

Into the unspeakable light.

So the poet fell in love with an earthly woman, forever burying somewhere in the depths of his soul the image of my woman, forever burying somewhere in the depths of his soul the image of his dream. This is what he felt then:

No melancholy, no love, no resentment,

Everything has faded, passed, moved away...

And your golden oar.

But nevertheless, the “Beautiful Lady” was still alive, she simply reincarnated, like Blok’s feelings. They became even more sublime and at the same time closer to reality. Alexander Alexandrovich still did not fully believe in the reality of Lydia Dmitrievna’s existence. He loved her with pure, sincere, divine love, trembled at the thought of scaring her away, believed that she would fly away like a butterfly if she heard steps close by, and therefore for a very long time he simply admired the perfection of her beauty:

In the shadow of a tall column

I'm shaking from the creaking of the doors.

And he looks into my face, illuminated,

Only an image, only a dream about Her.

In those moments, the lover knew for sure that this particular girl was his “Great Eternal Wife,” the very soul mate he was lucky enough to meet at the very beginning of his life:

I can't hear neither sighs nor speeches,

But I believe: Darling - You.

It was really her. In January 1903, the solemn wedding of Alexander Alexandrovich Blok and Lydia Dmitrievna Mendeleeva took place.

With this woman great poet lived until the last day of his life, and until his last breath he did not stop loving her. Over the years, this feeling grew stronger; in the most difficult moments, only the thought of my beloved helped me survive and gave me the strength to rise again and again and move on towards my cherished goal, to distract myself at least a little from the evil injustice of existence:

...And there, having sharpened the axes,

Merry red people

Laughing, they lit fires...

With me is a spring thought,

I know that you are not alone...

Violins moan tirelessly

Sings to me: “Live!”

The image of a beloved girl -

A Tale of Tender Love.

Exactly this tender feeling and illuminated the whole life path poet.

Blok was able to brilliantly portray him in his cycle of poems about the “Beautiful Lady.” Each of which is a small masterpiece, since it was written under the influence of emotions, moments, fragments... All these individual and harmonious fragments are alive, each of them breathes love, and if you listen you can even feel the rhythm of its heartbeat:

Oh, I'm used to these robes

Majestic Eternal Wife!

They run high along the cornices

Smiles, fairy tales and dreams!

The poet poured the raging music of his feelings into poetry, and now each of us can enjoy this wonderful consonance in the cycle “About a Beautiful Lady.”

The cycles of “Poems about a Beautiful Lady” (1901-1902) primarily correspond to Blok’s lively, hot, intense feeling for L. D. Mendeleeva. This worship of her completely captured the poet and turned into the creation of poems, which became the beginning of Blok’s creative path as an already established original artist. In poems about the Beautiful Lady, the poet praises her and endows her with divinity, immortality, expressed in the boundlessness of her power, the omnipotence of feelings and deeds, the incomprehensibility of her plans for a mortal man, and the wisdom of her actions. Pozt sees all these qualities in his Beautiful Lady, who now “goes to earth in an incorruptible body.” The block echoes Vl’s spells. Solovyov, who in his philosophical research affirmed the divinity of the Feminine Principle and the great power of the Eternal Femininity.

Pozt thought of his life as a prayer service to his beloved; he later said: “... I met her here, and her earthly image, completely in no way disharmonious with the unearthly, aroused in me... a storm of triumph...” (1918). From now on, the poet sees himself in the image of a knight who has made a vow of eternal service to his beloved, his Beautiful Lady, and worships only her:
I enter dark temples, in the shadow of a high column
I perform a poor ritual. I'm shaking from the creaking of the doors.
There I am waiting for the Beautiful Lady, who looks into my face, illuminated,
In the flickering of red lamps. Only an image, only a dream about Her.
Subject to this passion-obsession and completely captured by it, the poet sees absolute perfection in the Beautiful Lady, her really visible features seem to him heavenly and divine. For the poet she is the “Mistress of the Universe”, at whose feet all the lands stretch:
I am a trembling creature. The rays of what angels flew down,
Illuminated, dreams become rigid. Who is quiet at the threshold...
Before Your depths In You they lurk in anticipation
My depths are insignificant. Great light and evil darkness -
You don’t know what the goals are, the key to all knowledge.
You hide in the depths of Your Roses, And the delirium of a great mind.
(“I am a trembling creature...”, 1902)
In “Poems about a Beautiful Lady,” Blok obediently bows his knees before Her, plunging into his “fairy tales and dreams.” He is always ready to serve the “Majestic Eternal Wife,” whose earthly image is inseparable from the one that flickers on icons in the radiance of lamps and gold vestments; he passionately desires to meekly carry out her will, which is sacred to him. It seems to him: the creation of miracles is in her power, she just has to wish them! In prayerful adoration before the Beautiful Lady, the poet rushes to the heavenly, forgets about everything earthly. Sometimes the poetics of these verses coincide in their solemnity with church hymns, psalms, and prayers:

Here is humility in the vestments of chastity,
I make vows. Oh holy one! where are you?

Love, the beginning that connects the poet with the deity, for Blok takes on grandiose, universal, “supratemporal” scales, alien to ordinary earthly dimensions.

In “Poems about a Beautiful Lady,” the words sound, the sound has a certain “divine” color: among the “unfaithful shadows of the day,” a “high and distinct bell ringing” is heard. Often, among the “fussy affairs of the world,” the poet strives to hear at least the most distant echo of the “voices of other worlds,” those worlds that are the only true existence, next to which everything earthly and “perishable” seems like a shadow and a ghost:

You will pass here, touch a cold stone,
Dressed in the terrible holiness of the ages,
And maybe you'll drop a flower of spring
Here, in this darkness, near the strict images.

Captivated by the legend about the kinship of souls doomed to an eternal search for each other, the poet believes that his soul... in silence... with tireless hearing catches... the distant call of another soul...

Blok does not need either “gold” or “bread”; all this is just a shadow before the “fixed sun” of his love:
A new day is not one that beats. Then we will open the doors,
With the wind blowing through the windows in spring! And we’ll cry and we’ll sigh,
Let our winter losses laugh incessantly
An unprecedented day in the window! Let's carry it with a light heart...

Alexander Blok is a symbolist poet who lived at the turn of the century, in troubled times when there was a reassessment of values and a revision of the principles of life. And suddenly “Poems about a Beautiful Lady”? In times of protests, repression, suppression of a person, as an individual, whether you are a peasant or a nobleman. At such a time, I wanted to somehow escape from reality. It was just that writers began to resort to symbolism in order to find an outlet, they began to resort to the mystical and unreal.

Poems about a Beautiful Lady - history of creation

Blok found his outlet in love, in that feeling that inspires and lifts to heaven. In love for the “Beautiful Lady,” which he began to write down on sheets of paper. This is how Blok’s “Poems about a Beautiful Lady” appeared. In each of his works, he sought salvation, hid from the dullness of everyday life, and he succeeded. When he wrote, he found himself in a heavenly place, in the world of love for the “Beautiful Lady,” whose image he created in his thoughts and began to worship him “sometimes as a servant, sometimes as a sweetheart; and forever a slave,” as the poet writes in poetry.

He met his happiness, his love in the form of Lydia Mendeleeva. His love began to be reflected on paper with even greater zeal. He was afraid to scare her away, he didn’t want her to fly away like a butterfly, so he just watched her for a long time, admired her from afar, but he understood that this was the same woman, the same “Great Eternal Wife,” his soul mate “not audible.” , not a word, but I believe: Darling - You.” And he decided to propose. Over the years, the feelings did not fade away, but only flared up, as evidenced by the works included in the cycle called “Poems about a Beautiful Lady.”

To whom did Blok dedicated Poems about a Beautiful Lady?

Answering the question: “To whom did Blok dedicated “Poems about a Beautiful Lady,” we can say with confidence, to her, Lydia Mendeleeva, who lived with him until his last breath. Such wonderful masterpieces were dedicated to her alone and the wonderful feeling of love.

A brief analysis of Blok's early lyrics in Poems about the Beautiful Lady

Working on Blok’s “Poems about a Beautiful Lady” and doing analysis, we can say that “two worlds” are intertwined here: heaven and earth, material and spiritual. All the poems are filled with sublime feelings; here one feels a break with reality, the creation of unearthly ideals. When you read poems about a beautiful woman, you begin to understand all the feelings that the poet experienced and it seems as if you are reading his life, because it’s not for nothing that Blok’s early lyrics “Poems about a Beautiful Lady” were called the poet’s lyrical diary.

You are beautiful, my great princess.
Spring has blossomed in your soul like a mimosa.
Find out the whole truth of the fairy forest
I dreamed of you as a child, you were waiting for a prince.

You wanted to fall in love without memory.
To become the one he desires,
And passionate, as only a lioness can,
Drive you crazy by charming yourself.

And then the desired, unsightly one came,
But this is a prince, he is the prince of your soul.
And his gaze is frantic and pure.
Hurry into his arms.

You will live a great life together,
You will walk thousands of roads together.
And connecting destinies into a single chain,
While death still rings silently.

Gentle and modest dawn,
For me there is nothing sweeter in the world!
I won’t talk in vain!

If you smile at me,
The sun drives away the darkness of the night,
And here from heavenly heights
Reaches out its warm rays!

And how excitingly slender the doe is!
For me you are the only one!

Oh, women, earthly miracle!
God created you all for happiness.
Eyes more beautiful than emeralds,
The soul is a mysterious flower.

Life is an eternal movement.
Mother is always worried about the world
And for the fate of the children. From birth
She should cherish them and protect them.

It's easy to live next to you.
You're all trying to catch up.
Do everything with kind hands,
Sing songs over the cradle...

Who can compare with you in beauty?
You from attention, gentle words,
With a man next to you, like a queen,
Flower of love among flowers.

Oh, our dear queens!
Kudos to you for all your efforts!
May happiness become related to you
And life will become like a wonderful dream.

Strive for perfection in everything,
Appreciate life every hour.
May he experience bliss
Who will love you with all his soul.

You are my clear, morning dawn,
Gentle and modest dawn,
For me there is nothing sweeter in the world!
I won’t talk in vain!

If you smile at me,
The sun drives away the darkness of the night,
And here from heavenly heights
Reaches out its warm rays!

Like moonlight is elusive,
And how excitingly slender the doe is!
You beckon to you inexorably...
For me you are the only one!

I like being a woman in my twenties:
Laugh, get carried away, make mistakes,
Fall in love forever
And see a friend in every person.

About the sounds of the Mendelssohn march
Dream. And if the man was older...
Hoping to become the light of the Universe,
So that the world stands still before me humbly!

I like being a woman over thirty:
Shine with a cut and be proud of yourself,
To love with passion and soul and body,
Desired to be, relaxed, skillful.

Keep your family like a candle in your palms,
To be reputed to be smart, but a little eccentric.
And feel: I am a light in the Universe,
The world stands still humbly before me!

I like being a woman over forty:
To be wise and beautiful like a goddess
Knowing no malice and pride,
At the same time, know: I am a light in the universe
And the world froze before me humbly!

Curled up like a cat on your knees
You read books out loud to me
You are my dear, my dear!
You had a lover, you had a friend!

He came, smothered in his arms
I quickly cooked a simple lunch.
I swear on my crucifix
There is no one dearer to me.

Oh woman! - creation of the Gods!
You are the best creation of the Universe!

Always being extraordinary!

Your eyes are the radiance of lakes,

Keeping frost away!

I wish you happiness to heaven,

You are an ocean of tenderness and affection,
You are a whole world of light and flowers,
You are a rainbow of emotions, where all the colors are
Suddenly the sorceress Love mixed things up.

You are the queen of taste, fashion, style,
With your shine you will outshine anyone.
And no matter how much people around you flatter you,
You are always sincere with yourself.

Captivated my heart with the beauty of heaven,
With overflowing laughter, grace, intelligence,
Making a simple topic interesting,
You are very desirable in any society.

Your humor is appropriate and does not sting with poison,
There is no false flattery - it is always sincere.
I am immensely happy to be with you,
You are a gift from heaven, you are my star!

All my life I dream eye to eye
To be alone, my love, with you -
Otherwise, their secret cannot be understood,
This riddle is beyond my reach!

They are beautiful in the pubescence of eyelashes,
Their color changes like the skies,
Even a few pages aren't enough
To praise your eyes!

Beautiful and gentle, timid, not in a hurry,
Dear angel in the flesh, you drive me crazy!
You took my peace with one glance
She charmed me!
Touch my chest

And feel the rhythm of your heart,
How it beats in your chest.
Look me in the eyes.
In them you will read everything about my love!

Cause I love you so passionately
But love is not dangerous.
Give yourself up to her, come into my arms.
My dream is you alone!

Cleanliness in the soul -
like a bottomless well,
which cannot be scooped to the bottom.
The water is tasty and cool.

I really want to press my lips to you,
drink and never get drunk!
But how to save a well,
so that it doesn't get clogged,

didn't grind
and not clogged with silt?

I can really wait for you
Long, long and true, true,
And I can't sleep at night
A year, or two, and all my life, probably!

Let the leaves of the calendar
They will fly around like leaves in a garden,

What do you really need?

I can follow you
Through thickets and climbs,
On sand, almost without roads,
Over the mountains, along any path,
Where the devil has never been!

I’ll go through everything without hurting anyone,
I will overcome any worries,
Just to know that everything is not in vain,
That you won’t betray it later on the road.

I can give it for you
Everything I have and will have.
I can accept for you
The bitterness of the worst destinies in the world.

A woman should be a mystery:
Small, cute, sweet.
Flirtat, make eyes,
Believe in all sorts of fairy tales.

Remain holy and sinful,
Be a beautiful soul and appearance.
Charming, cunning imp,
Gentle. soft fluffy kitten.

A cheerful, playful minx,
To love and always be loved.
Madly and passionately in love,
Affectionate, timid and domineering,

Be able to laugh through tears
And never give up........

Sweet, funny madwoman,
Woman named Soul
I wet both my coat and my boots,
And again her clock is fast!

In the clouds, as if in a white shawl,
Jumped into the air currents,
“How did they keep you in heaven?
Are your wings transparent?

So what, did you find the keys to heaven?”
Snoozing on a chair by the door,
Handling the feathers with my hand,
Smiling sadly, he says:

“It’s true, I’m easy to climb,
Even in the rain and snow.
Sorry for being so stupid...
I can't stay on earth...

Don't call me to the rich mansion,
Where there is always peace and quiet -
Sleepy and well-fed grouse,
Will you really need me?

Don't read morals and lectures,
Don’t ask to become wiser before your time,
Let me have one last run,
Give me - while you still have enough strength...

The golden cage is no good
For me for permanent housing,
I am a Soul, which means I am a bird,
Your winged hypostasis...

Life was given such a short time
But those who do not sin are not judged...”
Sweet, funny madwoman
Woman named Soul

To all women who read these lines -
Words filled with tenderness
I ask you not to sum it up,
After all, every morning this life is new.

When you wake up early in the morning, you trust your meetings
They bring the conviction
That only faith and love can heal,
That happiness is close, on the way to the house!

Just don’t be sad and don’t give in to passion
Disbelief, despair and evil.
All these fleeting misfortunes
Like powerless ash from a fire.

Prayer for a woman.
Protect her from torment
From resentment, tears and grief,
From misfortune and pain,

From losses and separations.
Protect from gossip, lies,
Indifference and flattery
From fall and revenge,

Protect everyone from adversity.
Protect from evil rumors,
From suffering and sadness,
Let troubles come to her pier

The ships won't land.
Give her the tenderness of meetings,
Warmth, love and happiness,
Friendship, purity of participation,

A ray of never-fading dawn.
Give it to her, hurry up
Purity of all relationships
Let deprivation not touch you
Her trembling soul

There is a strength in a woman that amazes a man.
She can cope with adversity and endure the hardships of life.
She brings happiness, love and understanding.
She smiles when she wants to scream, sings when she wants to cry.

She cries when she's happy and laughs when she's afraid.
She fights for what she believes in.
Revolts against injustice.
Doesn't take no for an answer when he sees a better solution.

She gives all of herself for the good of the family.
Takes a friend to the doctor if she is afraid.
Her love is unconditional.
She cries with joy for her children.

Rejoices at the success of his friends.
He is touched by the birth of a child and the wedding.
Her heart breaks with grief when relatives or friends die.
But she finds the strength to continue living.

She knows that a kiss and a hug can heal a broken heart.
She has only one drawback:
She forgets about her virtues...
Pass this on to your girlfriends to remind them how wonderful they are.

Oh woman! - creation of the Gods!
You are the best creation of the Universe!
You have the power of the Magi,
Always being extraordinary!

Your eyes are the radiance of lakes,
They attract you with their bottomless depth!
And the heart is a warming fire,
Keeping frost away!

Meeting you is a miracle of miracles!
You are a fairy from a wonderful good fairy tale,
I wish you happiness to heaven,
Great love, tenderness and affection!

Love a woman for the sin she carried out of paradise.
And not because she cooks and does laundry better than anyone else.
Love a woman for the sadness that she hides from you.
Because next to her the burden of problems decreases faster.

Love a woman for her mind, which is both great and modest.
For the noise of children's fun at dawn in your house.
Love a woman for the night she gives you,
And for the desire to help when you are mortally tired.

And for the priceless gift of heaven - to listen patiently to sarcasm.
Love the dream and intriguing mystery in a woman.
Do not humiliate beauty with a reproach thrown casually.
Love a woman for the flattery that caresses your ears.

Love protest in a woman, just as a winner loves the weak.
AND JUST SO, BECAUSE YOU HAVE HER, YOU LOVE HER

The name of the cycle was suggested to Blok by V. Bryusov. It included the best poems of 1901 - 1902, dedicated to L.D. Mendeleeva. The poet wrote about the composition of the collection: “... the “one-string” of the soul allowed me to arrange all the poems of the first book in strictly chronological order; here the chapters are determined by years, in the following books - by concepts...” This book is the most striking phenomenon of “younger symbolism” in Russian literature, but at the same time it is lyrics that have absorbed world and Russian poetic traditions, the experience of Tyutchev, Fet, Polonsky . In his diary, Blok wrote that poetry is a prayer, and the poet is an apostle, composing them in “divine ecstasy,” and inspiration is akin to faith. Three images of the lyrical heroine are noted by researchers of this cycle: cosmic - Soul of the World; religious - Queen of Heaven; everyday - a gentle, but slightly arrogant girl. The poems reveal relationships with a friend, fiancee, wife, in whom the poet saw the embodiment of Eternal Femininity, a Christian symbol: “In the rays of your nebula / I understood the young Christ.” Images of temples, cathedrals, and church gates appear.

I enter dark temples,
I perform a poor ritual.
There I am waiting for the Beautiful Lady in the flickering red lamps.
“I enter dark temples...”, 1902

The earthly world and the symbolic are closely intertwined. Sounds and voices are barely audible, muffled, mysterious. Dominates White color- the main one in the image of the heroine.

But how could I not recognize the White river flower,
And these pale dresses
And a strange, white hint?
“The mists hid you...”, 1902

The mood of the lyrical hero is changeable - hopes and doubts, love and anticipation of the death of the Beautiful Lady. The theme of knightly service to the lady of the heart appears. The lyrical hero emphasizes his insignificance before its “depths,” calling himself a “trembling creature.” He strives not only for unearthly love, but also for earthly, real woman: “I am young, and fresh, and in love, / I am in anxiety, in melancholy and in prayer, / Turning green, mysterious maple, / Invariably inclined towards you...” The meeting of the heroes is real, the figurative series is concrete. Like a medieval knight, the poet creates a “prayer book of love” - a book that he always considered the best.

In “Poems about a Beautiful Lady,” according to Bryusov, “it’s as if there is nothing real at all,” the experiences are transferred to an ideal world. Life “torments” the poet, the earth is “deserted” for him, he feels himself in an “ancient cell”, on a mysterious “royal path”; ahead is a “pillar of fire”, he defines his dreams as “dreams of unprecedented thoughts”, “like a sacred dream”, and his cherished prayers boil down to one thing: let “the thought of the body” disappear, “resurrect the spirit, and let the flesh fall asleep!”
