This icon is located on Mount Athos, in the church at the Kareya cell, belonging to the Hilendar monastery. Initially, this icon was located in the Lavra of Saint Sava, 18 versts from Jerusalem. The holy founder of the only monastery in the East, at the time of his death, predicted to the brethren that in time the royal pilgrim from Serbia, Savva, who was named after him, would visit his monastery, and that the miraculous icon of the Mother of God the Mammal would be given to him from the monastery as a blessing. St. Sava peacefully passed over to the Lord in the 6th century. His prediction came true more than six centuries later: in the 13th century, St. Savva Serbsky; he was given the prophetic will of St. Savva the Sanctified, and the Lavra blessed him with the icon of Our Lady of the Mammal. Returning to Serbia, St. Savva transferred it into the ownership of his Hilendar monastery. It is remarkable that, contrary to general custom, this holy icon was erected by St. The local Savva in the iconostasis is not on the left side of the royal doors, but on the right, where the icon of either the Holy Trinity or the Savior is usually placed.
